The annual review meeting for the SUCCESS MURI project was held in November 2019 at the UMass Lowell NERVE Center. During the meeting, faculty, students, and post docs gave overviews of their work with presentations, posters, and live demonstrations. Project efforts were discussed with attendees from the Office of Naval Research and other affiliated government organizations. The main demo at the meeting saw a Fetch Mobile Manipulator robot first being verbally instructed by a human to perform a series of assembly tasks (such as picking up screws and inserting them into a bin), then performing those tasks autonomously while being queried by the human as to its current state and next steps. This demo is the result of an integration between the team’s FetchIt! Competition functionality and the DIARC (Distributed Integrated Affect, Reflection, and Cognition) framework.
